Indie Games Expo represents an opportunity to engage the emerging medium of Video Games as it enters the furore of 21st Century culture.
Mainstream videogames have a reputation for being multimillion dollar, homoerotic gore-fests – and this is largely what they are. But after hours and behind the scenes, programmers and artists work on the kind of games that the juggernaut publishers fail to heed. At their best, the results are brilliantly innovative puzzles and tricky genre-less devices, built to amaze, disorient and surprise hardened gamers that have tired of the conventional offerings.
