Why can't anyone develop a good multiplayer gaming platform??

With the exception of perhaps Party Poker and Poker Stars no company is proven that they can build a reliable, flexible and highly scalable multiplayer gaming platform. What is this all about???

Hi Kevin, do you have a need in one? I don't believe there is a good niche for a middleware product in this market.
Sergey there is a hugh need for this product and service. Most of the existing vendors provide really poor solutions that do not scale are unrelialbe and are difficult to integrate into expisting systems. They are not web 2.0 apps and have no social networking integration. Developing these platforms required a "software engineering team" and a tight, intense develop team that can work form a clear set of preconditions to prototype to fa ull on multigame multiplayer platform.
Well, I have a team -- but is there a customer who wants this built for his use? I'd be interested in implementing a reusable platform on a work-made-for-hire basis. We have an online games framework built in-house for MMO games, it can be used as a platform on which to build this product.
Why do you think there is not a need? I have been in this space and it is obvious to me that operators continue to change vendors in the quest for one of these platforms. I have been in discussion either directly or in-directly over the past two years with 10 to 15 of the operators and tht does not count companies that have free play interests.
Well, if you know of some customer that's willing to invest into such a platform (either for internal use or to sell to other, my team would be able to cover the technical aspects...

I am not saying there is no need. I am actually surprised that in 15 years no one has created a viable solution for this problem. Personally, I don't know much about online gambling, but surely can cover the technical aspects of it.
Sergey,
Please tell me more about yourself and your development team. The platform I am talking about is not a trival undertaking from a lot of persepctives. I also have very stong ideas from an architecture, tools, hosting, API and feature set that I want build into the product. I do want the development team to abide by a certain development methodolgy to make sure the product quality is build into the core product and we can see and release versions of the product before the absolute full solution is developed. I suspect that the full-on development effort will take 6 months for a first prototype and 9 months to a year for a product that can actually be integrated with an operators platform. It wil take another 6 months from that stage to put all of the core multiplayer games up on the platform.
Let's continue the discussion over email. Please drop me a line or two to sergey AT bitfold DOT net, and I will provide you with more information about us.

Cheers Kevin.
