WGE has developed organically from a number of people in the telecoms, gambling and games business, to encompassing a whole host of different disciplines, including the movie industry, tv, sports, publishing, cartoonists to name but a few.

Has this site and the WGE group in general become too eclectic or is variety the spice of social and business networking life?

No, not really, but it would be good to see more participation and some have found the site hard to navigate. Overall I really like WGE.
I will try to improve navigation as WGE builds and hopefully it will be much easier in the next stages. Im also looking at the opportunity of including chat as well but am not sure if there is a need for it. Opinons please?

As for participation, I thank you for encouraging it with your own posts Karen and by responding to the posts of others. It is much appreciated.

I personally do not think it's too eclectic......the thing that I find is that it's too secretive. It's seems to me nobody wants to really talk about their work. You know the details of your work that really paint a picture. Also as a voice actress I have no way of posting my audio.

Hi Deby, unfortunately i have no control over what information the members here share amongst themselves. However, if you find a member who you think might be able to assist you because of their profile, why not just ask them to explain more about their business.
As for uploading sound files, you can certainly do that and many people here have done.

I believe range and variety are very important since many industries are now coming together to express stories (for example) across multiple platforms. Games, comics and movies have a very strong relationship to one another.

When I ran my online comic we were looking at all kinds of other avenues to take the concept such as games, films, interactive flash comics, mobile content, and we also had the opportunity at one stage to launch it on UMD format for PSP as an interactive comic.

Also, many people who work in one industry may have worked in the others found here, and the contacts you make in one can lead to great opportunities.
