Press Release 9th of October 2012
Viope Game Programming Contest
Viope Solutions organizes a worldwide game programming contest in cooperation with the internationally known game development engine Unity as well as the elite of the Finnish game industry. The contest offers a possibility to become noticed in the international markets and promotes the development of the industry. The international computer, mobile and console game market is constantly seeking new candidates with an innovative mindset and original idea. The competition offers a chance to showcase talent, creativity and knowhow and therefore serves as an important stepping stone to becoming internationally known.
The contest is open to anyone interested from amateurs to professionals. What differentiates the Viope contest from others is the combining of an e-learning environment together with a game engine, Unity3D. This enables those, who have an innovative and unique idea but very little or no knowledge on execution, to participate.
Internationality and Partners
The Game Programming contest is worldwide and based on the pre-enrolment there are participants already from over ten countries. Besides from Finland there are participants from the Unites States, Southeast Asia, Europe and Africa. The judges of the competition are internationally known, successful game developers from six different companies. Rovio, the Finnish game developer, who gained worldwide recognition with its Angry Birds, is one of the judges alongside Digital Chocolate, Recoil Games, Remedy, Housemarque and Viope. Partners include the before mentioned game development engine Unity, IGDA (International Game Developers Association), AIESEC (Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales), Kajak and Playtech and Studio on Mars.
Contest Schedule and Launch Event
The official starting date of the contest is the 9th of October 2012 and the contest ends on the 20th of January 2013. On Tuesday, the 9th of October Viope is organizing the official launch event in a gathering hosted by IGDA. The event is in Metropolia building, Bulevardi 31, 00180 Helsinki.
